Got all the parts but was wondering about a few things.

Anybody done it or know someone who has? Any builder you guys know of who has experimented with this setup?

If you wonder why we're doing it, it's simple. We got all the parts and we're bored.

I was going to do a 490. If I remember right the mounting spots are the same for the 490 and the 200. try to get a tri-z swing arm and shock. It's only a 1/8 inch wider at the mounts and you can shave a 1/16 of of each side and it will mount right up. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Also make sure you reinfore the frame with gussets.

I'd imagine that it would vibrate like crazy. that tri-z swingarm and shock sounds like a good mod with that much power. good luck and tell us how it woks out. Get that motor counter balanced too.

I would make sure you rubber mount the engine or you can kiss your frame goodbye. We had a warrior with a 490 in it and it lasted about 4 hours before the tubes cracked. Harmonic resonance was bad.

Roost,

I'm in the process of sending the engine back to Japan to get a counterbalancer put into it

Why do you guys feel the Tri-Z swingarm is better? We have a +4 Trenga swingarm on the 265 right now and we were gonna lengthen it 2 more inches.

Will a heavier flywheel make it vibrate less?
We already have the rubber mounts, anti-vibe stem, foam superbike grips and a set of bars that will be filled with silicon and have road bike bar-ends put on them.
The frame is already marked for the gussets. We are waiting on building the whale pipe [Power Pro's] before finishing the frame.

Somebody has had to build this creature before. Anybody??

I didn't know that you had an extended swingarm. That thing is gonna be fast. I don't think that a heavier flywheel will help much. Good luck.

What the heck are you up to Rob?

I might recommend bar end weights instead of silicon --- mass damps vibration, the more mass you have at the ends of the bars, the less vibration there will be. Lead or other heavy weight will damp better than lightweight RTV silicon.

Gabe,

I thought I would try both. All the old timers I rode with back east would put silicon in their bars and they swore by it. Can't hurt. Bar-ends are a must though I would think.

After you said something about a CR500, well I got to thinkin'. Actually my #1 riding partner has a world class 265 Blaster with all the goodies. We ran across a cherry '89 YZ490 for peanuts.

We are having an engine builder punch the engine to 580cc with a bore and stroke. Compression will be low as I don't want to have to kick start the thing for him everytime.

As time goes on I will document the transformation here. I can't wait to tell people at the hill, "Yeah it's a Blaster with a swollen jug".

Between "silicon filled" and "swollen jug" I know there's a joke there somewhere.
