My P400 was wheels under in the mudd Saturday, I was having a blast throwing rooster tails of muck out behind me. I worked my way out of the mudd hole and went to hit the front brakes, the lever went all the way to the handlebars without effort. I pumped on it, built pressure, and I eventually stopped. It only did this once more the whole day, I cleaned off the bike and for the last few days its been dry and normal. Is this water causing this, and if so how? Its got me stumped. Thanks for any advice.

 

more than likely, your front pads are worn to the point of replacement... mine did this after a mud bog race... it must get air from somewhere, as the dealership told me they needed bleeding, but cause was the pads were too warn ??? WAM

 

Thanks, you are probably right, I had the wheels off of it yesterday and noticed the pads were allmost needing replacement. I guess the calipers could push out too far and let water in or something else crazy like that. New pads are on my list. Thanks!

 

my 650 did this once back when i got it i just pumped it and it was finne and never did it again

 

Mud and weeds pack up between the pads and disc. This pushes the pistons all the way back into the caliper housing. You needed to pump the brakes several times to push the pistons all the way back out to take up the free play between the pads and disc.

 

I think now that novakaw650 hit the nail on the head, vented rotors picking up mudd and pushing the calipers open. This also explains why the fluid was pushing out of the top of my resevoir a few weeks ago, it has to go somewhere. I still need new pads though and it never happened before, so it could be more pronounced with worn pads. Thanks a bunch for setting my mind at ease.
