Default nawbie Jetting help (Warrior)

i see this is a big topic in the forum, and i have done a fair bit of reading but my first question is this... i put an FMF powercore4 on my 03 warrior a couple months ago...i didnt change the air filter, and didnt jet it...i was told that it is kind of hit or miss on whether i HAVE to or not..im broke but yes eventually when i get my header, and K&N air filter i WILL def. jet it...everything was great up until last weekend..i was out riding, ..doing some wheelies, and as i was riding them, my quad started to sputter...not bad but when you stay on the throttle at a constant presuure, it sputters a little...it must be a jet problem because i clean my air filter religously, and that is the only other thing i could think of that would be causeing this...so before i get into the jetting...can anyone reassure me that this is my problem?...do i have to change the jets or can i just adjust some things on the carb (i say "some things" because im not to familiar with this stuff, but i assume there are floats and fuel adjustment screws to richin it up or lean it out)..like i really dont have the money for the jet kit but if i have to i will find some...(and why would this happen so long after having the pipe?..honestly it ran great when i first put it on) if it is deemed that i will have to jet it..anyone who is running the same set up, i would love to know what Jet you are useing..from what i read 146-148 will do the trick..i guess thats now for all...got a few more questions but i dont want to get ahead of myself... thanks in advance for any help!

Sputtering usually means rich.... which means less airflow. Unless its a popping sputtering. Rich kinda gurgles and misses, lean pops and acts funny.

sputter might be the wrong choice of words...pretend you riding a wheelie, and all of a sudden you can just hear the engine stop getting fuel..now its only for like a tenth of a second, and it quickly recovers...but it started doing it more frequently as time went by..i then decided to start heading home before i get cought in the middle of nowhere...so i hope that clarrifies things..its not a really bad sputter but it just seems to miss fuel...like a jet gets clogged for a second..i dunno..HELP

If it only does it when you pop a wheelie its just the float bowl draining through the overflow tube because of the angle. If your still worried about the jetting though, just check your plug.

ok..thanks..yea im going to replace my plug this weekend..but im going to take it out fo a spin (no wheelies) and see if maybe that was the prblem...because when it happened...we had been in a field riding long wheelies for over an hour...i mean that wouldnt explain why it doesnt happen to my buddies 03 warrior but his is jetted..maybe that is making th difference...im still going to jet it..i plan on getting a gyt-r kit, but i have never done anytyhing like that, and i am going on a trip next weekend to ride, and i hate to have to work under a dead line if i dont have to..thanks a lot!

my girlfriend has a warrior that runs great unless you punch full throttle real fast.then its like hitting the choke for a brief second.it recovers and away you go.if you bring the throttle up at a little slower pace it is fine. since you are punching it to stand it up i was wondering if it was the same thing.i was told it was a diafram issue.

Any news on this issue? My brother in law has the same problem, and there was no solution listed.
He pulled his plug and is was black. Quad is completely stock, no mods. Any idea what jetting he should try to alleviate the prob?

yea um...i still havent jetted it yet..but soon..turns out i had a hugh puddle of water in my air box..i knew a watery air box would cause this type of problem but i clean my air filter religously so i mentally ruled it out..after not being able to figure out what it was i went back to the basics (only becaus ei know people that have the same setup im running without jets and have no problems)... anyhow i opened up the air box and bam..there it was..cleaned it all out....to this day im pretty sure none got into the high end and it has ran like a dream ever since...so maybe try that...?
