newbie has wolverine starter problems!!
I just found this forum today, and must say that it is very informative. I've only had my 1999 wolverine for a couple of months, and love it. But I have an intermittant starting problem that maybe someone out there can help me diagnose. Occasionally when I push the start button I get nothing but the red oil light coming on, but other times it works fine. I've taken the switch apart and cleaned the contacts, swapped the battery for another one, and found that it will jumper across the starter solenoid and start okay. Any ideas, before I have to take it somewhere? Thanks so much.

Sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Maybe in your handlebar switch housing? I just check and clean my connections at the bars and elsewhere. Protect them with dielectric grease. I put dielectric grease in every one of my connectors when it was new and I have never had an electrical problem.
Oh by the way welcome to the forums. Let us know how it goes.

After I re-read your post I see you have already cleaned the switch. I could be in the neutral switch or your left hand brake switch. Mine won't start in gear unless you pull in the left hand brake. Either way I still think it's a connection problem somewhere. My pal and I have had Wolvys since they came out in 95 and I have never seen a starter or starter relay go out.
