pinion gear trx3004x4
#1
anyone have any experience of removal of small pinion drive gear which drives crown wheel on rear axle?
i`ve stripped everthing down as far as i can, both cogs have damage and wouldn`t drive. i`m left with the small gear left inside the casing , i don`t know how to get it out? any help appreciated.

unfortunately not, its all tucked away in the casing, when i try to undo with windy gun, it just spins in the bearings, looks like it might be a dealer job.thanx for the suggestion.

Ahh....I see your situation now...albiet a tough one. How about stuffing some thick rags or towels into the "center section" carefully everywhere and giving the air wrench a zap? Worst that can happen is too shred the towels.....

cool!
used the towel and molegrips(vicegrips 4 our american friends)+airgun=job done.
thanx for tip, still looks expensive on parts though, new final drive crown wheel, new casing and about 3 bearings and seals.ouch!!!!!!!!
cheers again steve.

hey, i have been working on the same thing. the differential on my 96 honda trx300 2x4. hyperparts.com has rebuild kits for the rear end that comes with all bearings and seals for around 70.00. beats the heck out of 700.00 for a new rear end.
