Default Warn "Cable Retention System"

I have a new Warn 3.0 winch. I had wanted to use a 50 ft length of synthetic winch cable (Master-Pull), which has a standard ring terminal end that connects to the drum. Evidently, Warn's new "Cable Retention System" does not work with the ring terminal end. This 'new' system is simply a hole through the winch drum that you thread the cable through.

Does anyone have any experience using this new system? I did not want to do it, but I cut off the ring end and did my best to thread the rope through the hole...I kind of liked the old system better.

timtimtj....I tapped a hole into the drum and just bolted the eyelet to the drum...I have about 6 feet extra rope that I just wrap around a couple hooks that I mounted.

A few others have just simply cut the rope, threaded it threw and tied a good knot.

Both ways should work fine. MasterPull should really address this issue. I emailed them and they did not respond at all.
