Default i need to do somethimg with my trailblazer 250

ok well when i got my 2003 trailblazer it was the best thing cause my friend's that i ride with had not that great of things to ride. one had a 2001 trailboss 325 and the other a 1981 xl 100. oh yeah i got my quad last november. well fast forward about a year, 11 months to be exact, my friend with the tralboss now has a 400 scrambler and my other friend just got a brand new 2004 predator. so this is no fun!!!! it isnt fun anymore. they blow me away sooo bad. i asked to get a used 400 scrambler but my parents said no. well this is my question. should i get a used yz 125 or instead spend have my parents spend it on my quad. by the way this will be my birthday and christmas present cause my b day is two days after christmas. well what do you think i should do. i love quads, dirtbikes arnt bad either but i love doing all the things on a quad that you cant on a dirt bike. any input is greatfully appreciated. thanks

Well it all depends on how much you can spend. You wont ever be able to hang with the Predator but the 250 is very capable in beating the 400 with the right mods. I would stay with the quad and find out how much you can spend. You would have to spend $500-$600 to make it fun again or $800 to be able to hang with the 400, $1400 to kill the 400 and be behind the Predator.

well the dirt bike should costs like $2000 so i shoiuld just ask for all stuff for my quad. but the thing is i dont want to go through the trouble of sending in my head and stuff. is there any good pipes that can get rid of the horrid lag on the bottom end. but i dont want to sacrifice top end cause i want more top and mid also. thanks for the input 2manytoys and tell me how you like your aaen stage 5 kit.

The bottom end lag is part of a few things together. You need to get a good pipe like HPD trailpipe or the AAEN top end pipe. This will add hp. A good clutch kit to match the pipe you buy. Change out the stock carb because the stock roundslide carb is not very responsive at all. A good carb like a mikuni flatside or a keihin flatside. Keihin being the better of the 2. You should go with a carb size between 34mm and 36mm. If you dont want to do any engine work then all the bolt on stuff will help alot but not eliminate the lag completely. To get rid of the lag you have to do engine work. Like lightening the flywheel, porting. These two things will give you the most responsive performance along with a good carb. I would say you would be happy with the AAEN stage3 kit with a good carb if you want great top end. For a good all around pipe then the HPD trail pipe is good for trail riding, hill climbing and good top end. I used to have the HPD pipe but then changed to AAEN. I do alot of hill climbing and the HPD pipe would flatten out way to soon and lose power going up. The AAEN pipe has good bottom end but once the powerband kicks in she climbs like crazy and still wants to go. The setup that I have now can smoke a stock 400. It was well worth the money but I had alot of trial and error to find something that worked for me. The best thing to do is figure out what most of your riding habbits are going to be and work on a kit to match. There is really no great all around top and bottom end performance unless you go with a reed conversion kit.
