Default Are 727 Raptors that fast?

It is time to rebuild my raptor. So I need to decide what to do. Right now I have: +1mm 11:1 Wiesco, hotcam stage 2, port and polish, proflow K&N, dyno Jet kit, and degree key.

If I go with the 727 I will be adding: 12:1 J&E, carrilo rod, and I will aslo be putting the 2002 gears in and the L&A one way bearing. This will be with stock carbs.

So will this setup be worth the additional money it is going to cost? How much faster will it be? My buddies ride ported out banshees that are quite a bit faster than me now(about 4-5 bike lengths in a 300ft drag), so will I be able to keep up with them? It will cost a lot of money to do all of those additional mods and I don't want to waste my money if they are still going to beat me.

So what do you guys all think? Is this a good setup? What would you do? Any info is much appreciated.

Thanks

If you can afford it I would put the Titanium rod in and add some FCR'S. If not the carbs go with the Ti rod if things are tight. Also if I was going to a JE piston give Craycraft a call and see what he can do for you. I would also reccomend an aftermarket clutch basket if you dont already have one, i've seen the stock basket go to pieces. Slim

I would spend my money at Craycraft if I were you. They have a 727 with 20 shot of nitrous on race gas that has ran a 4.28 300 ft time in sand. I don't think your buddies would be hanging with you anymore, LOL. Whole motor package (big FCR's, Carillo rod, all labor, piston, cam, sleeve, intakes, etc, etc, etc.) costs around $5K. Even if you are not going to go all ot, I would still at least give Bob a call.

Yea, but Wallstreet... correct me if I'm wrong... They have the dynatech ign, NOS (like you pointed out) Tranny over ride, and air shifter as well. Plus from what I hear its been lightned up alot as well. So you would have to add those mods in as well. For 5G you are not going to have a 4.2 quad.

Raptorman- you are correct. It takes more than 5G to go 4.2. But Bob is doing a 727 now for under 5G that will run close. Anything faster than 4.9 is flying.

That is what I want to know. If you run a 727 that isn't in a lightened up raptor runing on nitrous how fast would it be???? I want a fast raptor, but not a drag only quad.

Also I don't plan on running the FCR's because they are way to expensive, and everyone says they don't give you anymore power they just make it snappier. So I just can't justify $900 for them. Also the TI rod would be nice but again it is just to expensive, so I was thinking of going with the carrilo rod and maybe lightening the fly wheel to compensate for the extra weight.

I have talked to Bob about building a 727, but before I spend the money for it I would like to hear from people who already have them. How much faster are they then the 686??

go with the 727, and with FCRs you should be able to run under 5 if your good enough(with the 5g whole motor package.)

Actually he ran the 4.28 without the air shifter, it malfunctioned earlier that night lol
