Are 727 Raptors that fast?

With the proper setup swingarm, tires, and gearing with no chassis mods the 727's,686/690's with just gas will do it in the 4's and you will still be able to cruise around on it,trail ride, and do the dunes. Slim

hey im not being cocky and im not stupid..im ignorant to this subject...but isnt it bad to have to modify and spend 5gs to spank a banshee? if that is the purpose why dont people just buy banshees then and not spend 5gs? honest question. and another thing, wouldnt a 727 all built up need to be rebuilt more often than a stock 660 cuz its running hotter?

spanxkx- if you want to get a banshee to run 4.28 i bet you will spend 5 grand doing it right if not more
Sandraptor- the 727 is a killer motor if you got the funds to build one. A well built 686 will dip into the fours tuned right, the 727 will do it easier. Is it worth the money?? If craycraft builds the 727 you will have to get FCR's to properly feed it. There 686's will put you to the max on stock carbs. Acarrillo rod, dual springs, hi lift cam and 12-1 105mm piston will out run a 686 every time. No replacement for displacement

14mins - Why do you have to get fcr's to feed a 727? Is it that the stock carb bowls will get sucked dry because they can't supply enough fuel through the needle and seat? I mean some people have modified stock carbs to run alkie I don't see why a stocker wouldn't work with a 727 on gas.
One more question. Why do carbs for a raptor cost so much when you can get carbs for a banshee for half the price????? It's not like the raptor carbs are all that special.
By the way I appreciate everyones input/help on the topic. I just want to make sure I am spending my money in the right places when I do this build.

Yea, but Wallstreet... correct me if I'm wrong... They have the dynatech ign, NOS (like you pointed out) Tranny over ride, and air shifter as well. Plus from what I hear its been lightned up alot as well. So you would have to add those mods in as well. For 5G you are not going to have a 4.2 quad.

RaptorRidrTX... Even minus the air shifter he is not running a 4.2 on the 5G of engine work alone. I'm not saying its not a fast bike because everyone seen the vid and hell yea its fast, but all I'm saying is that if you can make me a 4.2 Rappy for 5G I will send you a new quad and the money! LOL
I just didn't want sandRappy to be mislead.

Raptorman- The 727 with 39mm carbs, stainless valves, override tranny, custom this and custom that was around 5400 labor included. The owner already had the cdi, nos and drag pipe. That motor does not have all the TI parts that Ryan has. To me that is not that bad. You bring a bag of bolts and Bob will put it together and fire it up and dial it in for you. Anyone that has ever been around Bob knows how **** he is when putting stuff together. The man uses a torgue wrench on every bolt on the motor. He uses precisely the proper amount of gasket material and wears out calipers on every motor. His engineering back ground shows when he does this stuff. Bob would easily fit in on a FI car team. Bob does it the way every shop should but does not do for the money you pay.
Sandrappy- you spend the money to build a 727 there is no reason to run it on the edge with the stock carbs. If you plan to run a full airbox with lid on and factory exhaust then maybe you can squeeze by with the stock carbs. I do agree that FCR's are over priced but that is the name of the game. The builders (except trinity) make very little on FCR's.

Here is a good example, a true 350 on alky, stock frame, best run is 4.12 in 300ft.
