Grinding when engaging gears
#1
Hi guys,
Just bought a '92 TB 250 (1000 miles on the odo) and I have a problem with grinding when engaging hi/low/reverse when cold. The grinding problem goes away when the bike's warm. I thought it might be cold fluid but it isn't THAT cold. I know the collective mind-trust on this forum should be able to give me a difinitive answer if not an educated guess
Cheers,

Hey thanks for the quick response(s) guys, hopefully that's it I'll try lowering the idle speed a whisker and see if that's the cause.

My 89 TB is the same, just figure it's wear in the clutch, can't get idle low enough to stop it without other problems. So I just tell myself it's an automatic just like newer cars and trucks, you must apply the brake before shifting.

I haven't poked around it too much yet... been too busy. Easy enough to adjust the idle? I reckon there's just a set screw for idle speed on the carb, or is there more to it? Gotta order the Clymer's for it
Cheers and thanks to the forum... great guys!

Just an update to all who were kind enough to answer my question:
Tweaked the idle a bit and presto... no more grinding when cold
