FRONT SAND TIRES
#2
They really do help - and you will notice the difference. They will keep you from sliding down the hill if you are shooting horizontally across the face of a dune. I noticed a big difference when I first installed mine at Glamis after riding half the day without them. I think the tires I have are GBC Dune Trackers 22x7x10. & they work well. I haven't seen anyone provide compelling evidence of one front sand tire working much better than any other - yet.

Black hawk is correct. I have the Kenda dune runners, with the center rib, turning is much easier. They are one of the least expensive tires out there but work great for me..Also I went with the .160 rim, I saved about 5# per tire and wheel!

Aren't the smooth buff's more of a drag racing tire? It's been my understanding that they are used because they have less drag since nothing is in the sand. I would think for dune play they smooth buff tires wouldn't steer very well, though I have never used them. What differences do you notice between smooth & ribbed? (Yeah, that does sound like a Trojan commercial!)

Get sand tires. GBC has cheap 22/8/10 make a world of difference. The DS is front heavy and really wants to dive into the deap soft sand, these help get the front up a little and with floatation. You will notice a big difference. "Ribbed for her pleasure"
