Default Piped Raptor Vs. Stock Raptor

Has anybody drag raced a stock raptor against a piped raptor? If so, how many lengths did the piped raptor win by?

The reason I am asking is I raced a stock one on my piped raptor and I am not very happy with the results. Anybody got anything I can compare my results to?

So does that mean that piping is a waste of time or are we dealing with piped quads that could use a little tuning?

AlphaRaptor660R,

How long is the race when you beat him by 4 or 5 lengths? I raced a stock one 5 times, I won 4 of 5. The first race I think I jumped the gun a little bit and I beat him by about 3 lengths in 125-150 yard loose dirt. The second race he beat me my 2 lengths, I must have spun more than him off the line and I could not catch him. The dirt was very loose and worrying about wheeling was not a problem, just spinning too much. The third race I only got him by half a length. We then went to a field that had very short grass and alot of traction. I beat him by a couple of lengths both times in about a 100 yard distance. We just barely got into fourth on the longest race (125-150Yds). This was an 01 Raptor with just the pipe hollowed out and Maxxis Razrs on the rear. I have an 02 with a Sparks pipe, airbox lid modified, and Pro Design filter kit. I was hoping to beat a stock raptor by more. We were both equal in riding ability as far as I could tell, I did outweigh him by 20 pounds or so.

A pipe on a Quad is Very useful when properly tuned, so yea we are dealing with quads that need a little fine tuning. Also remember that no 2 quads are the same.

In 100 yds a piped Raptor should lay down a good 10 lengths on a stocker, all else being equal. Piping and PROPERLY (<---key word) jetting a Raptor is a dramatic difference. Remember rider weight is important too.

TJw6981,

It might have been you I raced, I noticed you ride at Alto. That's where I ran the guy with the hallowed out pipe, this past saturday. They had a DS with a Ron Wood Stage 2 kit that ran real good, and a Banshee that supposedly only had the CPI inframe drag pipes that stomped everybody there. Both the DS and the Banshee beat the YFZ450 that was there. I did not race the 450 but I did race the DS and the banshee at the same time, I was a length or two ahead until the middle of third and then all I saw was there *** end 5 lengths in front of me the rest of the way.
