Default Polaris Rider's Opinions....

I have a 99' sportsman 500 and i would like to get some new tires. I mainly ride on trails, through the creek, some mud, and snow(when it snows here). there are alot of hills here, so something with some grip. The question is what kind do you recommend that would fit my factory rims, but i want some 26's. IS that possible? Will they rub? what problems have you had or not had? Anw where on the internet could i look for some with and without rims(i might change the rims later) any input on this would be great. THanks, P.B.500

I have heard good things about the new maxxis bighorn radials. A post from a guy in Id. said he just loved them and I think they look great with the raised white letters and agressive tread. I have the stock badlands XTR's on my rig. I have no real complaints yet, but only 200 miles and nothing but dry dusty dirt here so far. Will see haow they work in the snow and mud this winter(hopefully).
Hope this helps

thanks for the post, i will look into those tires. All in all, i am wondering this: WIll 26's fit on the 99' Sportsman 500 without problems(rubbing, bogging down badly,etc..) i ride in mud, creeks, trails, and snow/ice. Will they fit on the factory rims? Thanks again

My father in law has a 99 400sp> I know that he is running some 26 in ITP black water tires frnt and rear. Says they go like he(( in the mud and snow. He has not altered the suspension from stock, and has never said anything about rubbing bogging and such. You will find that diffrent tires will say the same size ,but will have lower or higher profiles. Kinda like shoes. your 9 1/2 is diffrent from my 9 1/2.
They will fit the factory wheels as long as you buy the right size i.e. a 25x11x10 will fit on the same rim as a 26x11x10 and so on. The 26-26 is outside tire diameter, the 11 is tire width, and the 10 is the rim size.

Hope this helps

A good buddy of mine uses Titan 589 M/T on his sportsman. I have some videos of how well they do in mud and some pictures. If wanna check them out give me a holler.
