snow tires

how do vampires, titan 589's, and mudrunners handle the snow? i do about half of my riding in the snow and on ice. how are these tires going to behave? i need to have year round traction and i don't want to spend $400 on tires if they will not work on the snow and ice.

I have Bearclaws and Mud Sharks on my quad and they seem to work good in snow. I also use it for hunting and ride in Northern Minnesota snow (what little we have had the past few years)they work great for plowing too. You wont find ANY tire that works good on ice. I plow a skating rink near my house in the winter and have done so with 5 different brands of tire and noticed no great difference of one over the other. If you want to e-mail me I can tell you more.

If you don't want to spend top dollar on the 589's or the others, try the GBC Dirt Devils. I bought them from cawoodtire.com. for all four I spent $250 with shipping and love them. I plow snow, trail ride, hunt, and play in the mud. They are not the 1 inch plus tread depth tires the expensive ones are but they are close to an inch and directional plus are better on the yard. As far as mud goes I normally go through stuff as deep as the tires w/o problems. I have only been stuck twice with them, once in a creek run off tring to pull out my buddies 450 Honda, the other was Sunday and I was in over the fenders (no water, just black gooey muck) and spent the next 1 1/2 hrs pulling it out with my winch.
I have not seen any reviews on these tires and that made me a little nervous about buying them (I wanted 589's, but they were not out yet), but I am happy now.
Good luck.

p.s. Cawood tire has a pic on thier web site. It will hurt your LOW END POWER with larger tires.

I have a 96 Honda Fourtrax 300 2WD that I'm selling, but last year I bought 25x13x9 Vampires for the back, and it goes great, just about everywhere. When they were brand new they were almost unstopable. This past winter the tires had about 1/2 of their tread and they still pulled great.
My friend has my quad but the 4x4 and he bought 4 brand new stock tires for it and I could go better through the snow then him, except in reverse he can go alot better.
I would buy vampires, they work in everything. I love them except that they are very heavy.
