Default Shifting

I have a 99 335 SP with 1700 miles on it and I am having a small proublem shifting when I push the lever ahead to go in gear nothing happens (reverse too) if I rev the engine a little bit it clicks in. Should I turn the idle up a little or do I have to make some adjustments to linkage?

Sounds like you need to adjust your linkage. The tie rods on the linkage could be worn out as well. Start with the simple stuff

Try changing the oil in the shifter before doing any thing else.

To change the oil in the shifter you take the top off of the shifter(watch wheree the springs and ball go)most of the time it is dry.You may need to take the assymbly off and clean it real good before putting in new oil 10w40 . Some thing else to check is the alluminum shift levers on the tranny they get wore out and have play in them causing the bike not to go in gear all the way.
