Hey dude, I've got a 2003 400 EX also and so does one of my riding buddies and his battery would always run down...So far mine has not but I have started mine at least 2x a week...But from what I understand, if you don't start it, it will lose its charge.....however The solution to your battery running down is to get a trickle charger and attach it to the battery. I got one called a hotshot and it does the trick. It supposedly will not over charge your battery and it's a simple plugin that you can ziptie to your frame and then when done riding, plug it back in...In regards to your fuel...I would definitely drain the bowl in your carb if your not going to be riding it for a couple or more weeks...By not doing so, the gas will shellac inside your carb and you don't want that......This is according to several people that I've talked to, not just my knowing it.....Hopefully what I've told you will help.....Best of luck....
