i have a 98 scrambler 500. Its got an off idle stumble. I have the hot seat performance kit with the pipe, 160 main jet, k&n filter, and clutch kit. I am way down on power. I rode a stock 2000 scram 500 and it felt way faster. Then i got beat by a 500 sportsman by about 3 quads out of the hole.
Any ideas? It was doing this before i put the kit on. I was hoping that would help out.

 

something aint right if the kit made you loose power...

 

Is a 1998 Scrammy the 500HO engine? If not, that would be a big difference....supposedly 20% more power in the HO

If not, you might need to change weights on the clutch....

Are you sure it's a 160 main?

 

You may also need to check your belt or the buttons in the secondary clutch. I'm told this can cause the hesitation on starts.

 

Yes, check the clutch buttons. HPD makes some nice replacement aluminum buttons. Also make sure that you wound the secondary clutch 1/3 turn

 

How do i check my clutch buttons? Also if i hold it just above idle then gas it, it revs fine.

The clutch buttons are in the secondary clutch. They are what ride against the helix.
