Default Need to learn how to work on YFZ450

My YFZ450 needs some work. I want to replace my pistons. I only know how to do basic maintenence. The last thing I want to do is take my machine to a dealer and have them rip me off. Can anyone give me advice on changing the pistons?

It only has one piston. Why would you want to change it? You can increase the compression a bit but you will need to run expensive race gas. My advice is there are a lot of other mods you can and should do before chaning a piston. It is not something someone with very limited mechanic experience should attempt.
Do you know carbs? Remove the lid and baffle, then rejet.

no it dont!!!
my buddy was putting my pred back together after the old tranny blew.. he followed the book the entire way and got the entire thing together and was working on the clutch.. he picked up the basket and found a shaft.. he had forgot about.. but he figured he was all set cause the manual hadnt said anything about it.. needless to say he had to take the motor all apart again to put the shaft in the tranny.. i was pissed.. was gonna have it back together for this weekend but now i gotta wait until the new gaskets come in
