Well it's assembled and in the frame. I did tighten the bolts that go in the staybolts (which hold the majority of the motor down) 2 pounds tighter. What do you guys recommend for the break in procedure for this thing. I want to keep the motor running as healthy as possible. Hopefully this weekend it will fire and then all I have to do is tune it.

 

just heat cycle it a few times and then ride hard.

 

Forgive my ignorance.. but what is a heat cycle?

 

Go to glamisdunes.net and click on the break in procedure, this is what I did and it worked great. A heat cycle is when you start the bike, let it warm up for about 10 min and then shut off and let cool. Put a fan on it to keep it from overheating, Kinda like riding but without a load on the motor.

 

I did the heat cycle thing and I took it easy for the first tank of gas. After the first tank let it rip.

 

I've heard that bartlett but I'm ont sure I believe it. I think changing your speed and gears often without going too hard on it is the best way

 

Exactly, you gotta run them like you got a pair if you expect it to run at it's best.

 

after i put my new valves n rings in, i was kinda in the middle, wasn't babying it but wasn't pinning all the time either

 

I'll say it again, EXACTLY! Just like the Nascar motors, they break 'em in by putting them on the dyno under a load and hold them to 8000rpm! And no one can't tell me they don't know how to do it right!
