I don't know what the rest of you think but I kind of like it. Taking off the front rack was a good idea, I think they could have left the rear one on if they were gonna leave it with an auto clutch anyways. Also they lowered the price by about $300 I think. That is always a good thing. I like the color too. All of you Banshee and 400EX owners better be afraid now that the Lakota has that high performance headlight. Looks like the Lakota is now tossed into my next quad mix.

I hope this isen't Kawasaki's new "sport" machine.
All they did was take off the racks, change the head-light, and give it a new grab bar.....

Relax, this just explains the rumors of two sport models for 2001 from Kawasaki. The factory race team is rumored to be wringing out the all new bike in California this week. With all of the hype Yamaha has generated I would expect Kawasaki to "leak" info on the second bike very soon.

 

Is the new Lakota an auto shift like the old one? I actually like what they did taking off the racks and putting on the racey plastic. If it is an auto shift this could attract many buyers to the sport quad market who don't like manual clutches - like my wife! I might have to buy a new Lakota.

 

Yeah it still has the auto clutch on it. I think this was a good idea, I don't really like manual clutches because most of the time when riding trails I dont have time to be doin all the clutching and all the other crap at the same time. Maybe if I used them more I would get used to it, but for now I like auto clutches.

 

ya well you get use the the shifting and all the other stuff it just takes some geting use to it one more thang have you happend to have eney trouble out of your 2000 trailboss i blew up the engine twice and had all kinds of other trouble i had to get reed of it it sucked but i got my mojave so it was kind of the bast thang i ever did

I have had one very minor problem with my trailboss. One of the chrome rollers things on the chain fell off and it started clicking everytime it went around. Other than that it has been great I love the low end power it has but have been lookin for a new quad with the same low end but a little more on top.

Whoa, nice Polaris thread and as I'm sure most in here already know a manual clutch allows one to handle many different obstacles and negotiate tight trails at a good rate by using proper clutch/throttle technique
