Default Clutch adjustment 101...

I have an 02 banshee with mods and noticed that my clutch started slipping. I went ahead and yesterday I put a new barnett clutch with 3 stock springs and 3 hard springs. I tried the bike out last night and when the powerband hits in 4th,5th,and 6th and it still slips. I've adjusted the perch on the lever all the way in but I'm pretty sure the adjustment I need to make is on the pressure plate itself. I didn't get to see the arrows if they're lined up. When I let go of the clutch it feels like its not releasing completely. The question I have for you guys is, on the basket, do I need to tighten or loosen the adjustment screw?

ps.. sorry for the long post, just bored here at work...

Follow your cutch cable, there should me a main andjustment outside of the cases. Just remember that with your new clutch plates, you need to loosen your cables all the way or they will be way to tight and in reality you will never be disengaging your clutch. Loosen the cables till your clutch lever feels loose, then tighten to spec for lever tolerance. Also, there are tourqe specs for the springs in the clutch plate. 20 ft/lbs. sounds right, but I would double check.

i've had a very simular problem. i'd check the clutch release arm, there is a arrow on the arm and an arrow that lines up with it on the crankcase. if it is not ajusted at the right piont then the clutch won't release properly and it can cause the clutch rod to mushroom over.

there is no ajustment for the cable outside the cases the only cable ajustment outside the cases is at the clutch lever.
