Default Raptor project... banshee engine... any thoughts?

I'm thinking about starting a new project over the summer. Finding a Raptor rolling chassis (probably '01... ya know) and shoeing in a Banshee mill. I'm wondering if anyone has done this yet or what everyone's thoughts are on this. Obviously there is enough height to the chassis, but wondering about engine width issues and the custom pipes and intake requirements. Would be a dune-specific machine (not only for drags, though).

I'm just doing the research right now so any input would be greatly appreciated.

put a snowmobile 4 stroke engine in it...high displacement that would be sweet, definitely faster then a banshee engine but prolly alot of money

My exact opinion...Why????? Just get a Banshee and be done with it. The engine placement is perfect and it has a much lower center of gravity with out the wheeling tendency of the Raptor.

I have to agree. Why? If you want to do something different, get a street bike engine or snow mobile engine and see what you can do with that.

I LOVE THE IDEA!!!!!!!!!

Everyone that wanted a NEW Banshee would have loved for it to have the Raptor's looks!!(its what Yamaha SHOULD have done)

WHY you ask??? Cause it would be COOL as hell to have the Rappy looks with the Banshee POWER!

My only suggestion would be to Do It right!! take your time and make it look Factory
good luck.

Bigger.

I've actually seen a banshee with raptor plastic on it at the river a couple of years ago... it was awesome. My guess is that a banshee frame made to fit raptor plastic would be your best bet. I'm not completely sure, but i'd guess that a banshee frame is quite a bit lighter. Also, if you're gonna go with a snowmobile motor... Go 2-stroke and not 4. them 3 cylinders are beastly

pretty much because of what bigger said - to be different and because I can

Also, I've ridden banshees and I don't really care for the ergonomics; and the Raptor has better suspension geometry and will handle better.

There is a lot of room in that chassis, too, so I wouldn't be crowded... I have a lot of extra Raptor parts off my '01, too.
