Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I bought a "well used" Honda TRX200 last week. It looks like a utility. It has front and rear racks, automatic clutch, hi and low range, and drive shaft. The engine runs well and there aren't any unnerving noises.

I have a few questions:

Where is the vin plate or serial number?

Is there a good source for parts? Plastic, rear parking brake brake cable, a rebuild kit for master cylinder.

The previous owner mounted a huge driving light on the front rack (it does not work). It was used to replace the original headlight. I'd like to change it to some thing smaller and more efficient. I am ok finding a stock light but I need the whole assembly. Any ideas?

How many quarts of oils and what viscosity should I use in 15 to 40 degree weather?

You should still be able to get parts at a Honda dealer.

The TRX200 is an excellent machine good purchase and welcome.

I have the 200sx which is the newer version of that. Its a great quad and the only place I have been able to find parts is in the dennis Kirk catalog and ebay. you can get the catalog at www.denniskirk.com . the vin plate should be in front of the engine on the support bar or on one of the front struts. plastic it expensive and you might just want to leave it, $170-200. you should use Ase 10w-40 oil in it and I would change it often for good motor life and it uses 1.7 quarts on the 200 cc I don't know about the 250 cc. As for the light just go to wal-mart and get a pair of 55w driving lights or check ebay for a factory one.

Thanks for the info!

I was told by the seller that mine is an 88 also. Can I assume it's an SX?

If your 200 has the automatic-clutch it is a good idea to use an oil like the Honda factory brand with the additives for the clutch.

Any brand names that might work other than Honda?

The closest Honda dealer is about 45 minutes away.

The TRX200SX - 1986,87,88 so yes it probably is a SX.

There was a TRX200 in 1984. Then again in 1990.

Then a TRX200D (I think it was "D") from 1992 until 1997. Enter the Recon (250) in 1997.
