I use to own an '88 250R years ago and am looking at buying a new sport quad soon(have been riding dirt bikes). I love 2 strokes but I hate mixing gas and don't trust oil injectors, not to mention all the other things that go into owning a 2 stroke(like the friggin laws).

While I don't care for 2 stroke technology, I do enjoy the fast revs a 2 stroke can produce. That being said I'd like to jump on the bandwagon and get myself a new 4 stroke.

So is there a new 4 stroke wheeler out there that can produce fast revs and a hard top-end hit like the old 2 stroke 250R? Maybe then new 450 wheelers from Yamaha and Honda?

I don't race and never have, but I do ride very hard and fast in trails and have a few rock dump piles around that we have more or less turned into MX tracks. What new quads would be the best in this type of riding situation? I have been out of the ATV scene for a while now and am not quite up on the times ever since I sold the old R years ago(still regret that), so any help would be appreciated.

 

sounds like a yfz450 is right up your alley!

 

YFZ450 sounds like the machine for you. However please don't laugh anyone but the Mojave is also a very fast revver [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

The modern DOHC engines like the Z400 like to rev. But, the 450's are going to be the kings!

 

the predator revs the same as a yzf, ut has the electronic throttle with imroved throttlr response, i have ridin both bikes and the predator revs alot faster

 

From experience with the bikes that I own, I will be the first to say that the yfz will rev the fastest, my YZF MX bikes rev faster than the CRF MX bikes!!! That extra valve makes the difference!!!! Definately, the YFZ will rev very fast. Ridley was 100% correct when he said its the closest feeling to a two stroke!!!!!! Thats the closest a 4 stroke will ever come to a two stroke, the Honda Quad I'm sure which will be like its predocessor the CRf450R MX bike which power hit is so much smoother than the YZF powerplant!!! Ride both!! Both I am sure will be very remarkable and unmatched on the MX track!! But its all about rider on the track!! I take my little 285 and waste people with the old ktm525's and the other 450's so its not a matter of size but of skill!!! Let me know if I can help with anything else!!! Also I do all maintence on all my mx bikes, I know all the pro's and cons of the motor!! I have ridden the 4 stroke bike since 98!!!! I have tore down and rebuilt all the bikes(except machining the cylinders) well over 40 times, thats not because they are not reliable, but because I race mine!! Thats just playing it safe!!! i agree.. there is no way a pred revs that fast... and yes.. i think polaris needs to get a dam FCR carb on that thing..
and may or june for the new honda... i got money on november/december!!!

 

The new honda is not going to be as fast as the yzf i have seen one and the egineers were testing it. I asked one is it was faster then the Yzf and they said nope, which means the predator is defiantly going to kick honda's ***. They were testing it in pennsilvania near east coast atv

The YFZ revs quicker than anything that's out today.

I assume if the CRF doesn't have the TPS/Ignition set up, it will not rev as quickly as the YFZ........

 

How high does the YFZ rev? I knwo the Warrior and the Raptors both Rev at 9000RPM.
