Default 500 SP oil level going up??

HI, I am enjoying my new 04 sportsman 500 Ho,,, But I have been checking the oil level daily and it seems to be going up!! Yesterday it was 1/2 inch above full. I have been it a bit of water but even so it shouldn't get in, Right? Maybe I am not checking it properly or something; In my garage ,level, engine warmed up, then shut off?? Maybe I should change the oil now to be sure??only have 12 hours on it.
Thanks Rodney.

It’s more likely gas in your oil. A carb can flood out and overflow into the engine when it’s shut off.
I’d drain the oil and refill (Follow your owners manual). If this is happening you can usually smell the gas in the oil. It can be fixed with proper float level and if needed a new needle valve and seat on your float, or you could just turn off the gas whenever you shut off the engine.
It could also just be your oil level checking technique. Follow the description in you owners manual exactly; dry sump engines will vary the level quite a bit depending on when you are checking the level.
