Default z400 front shocks on a 400ex

I am looking to get some new front shocks for my 400ex; they're blown, i mean the front end bottoms out like im runnin on springs. I can get fairly new 400ex shocks off ebay for pretty cheap but i would like to upgrade to something better, are the z400 shocks any better? will they fit???? what are the dimensions on the 400ex and z400 front shocks? any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you,
Jeff

Both my 400's have Works shocks, so I have both 400EX and Z400 stock shocks sitting in a box (best place for them!) in my garage. I went out and compared them. The Z shock is slightly longer, ~ 1 inch. Otherwise they are ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL. Clearly they are made by the same manufacturer. So, by going with a Z shock, no way are you going to get a "better" shock. All you will get is the same shock that is the wrong length, and probably the wrong valving..

Don't fool around. Just get a pair of rebuildable aftermarket shocks and be done with it! I like Works Performance. They are local here in So. Calif.

i would love to get works shocks but i dont have $330 to spend on them so new stock shocks off ebay is my only option, now i can get z400 shocks for exactly half as much, would longer shocks work?

Always do the suspension mods, before you ever touch the motor!!! What good is a fast motor, if you don't have the suspension to back it up??? Everybody always gets this one backward!
