Default Scrambler tranny question

My buddy has a Scrambler 500 HO and he wants to add nitrous to his bike, but he doesn't think the tranny will hold up to the HP. He's already jetted, ported and piped the thing. Is there a heavy duty clutch he can go to? He talked about swapping in a 700 Sportsman clutch assembly, has anybody done this? Does anybody have a scrambler on the laughing gas (NOS)

Default Scrambler Nitrous Question

He needs to add more weight to the primary clutch when running the NO2. It will add a lot more power and the clutch will be able to shift faster with more weight and not pull down the motor rpms. That will also keep the belt grip better. A good roller secondary clutch sure wouldnt hurt anything. And a good Kevlar belt. But with the better belt comes less clutch life. Just some thoughts,Bubba

I also think you would have to mod the engine some. At least a better piston and rod, and probably the crank too.

Default Scrambler Nitrous Question

Dennis of Bad Boyz of AZ had good luck w/ it on his 400. He might be a good source for answers for how it would be on the 500.

It will hold up just fine. You will need to adjust your clutching as mentioned previously. The stock motor will be fine for the amount of nitrous you will be adding.
