Oil Pressure and Oil Type
#1
I recently installed an oil pressure gauge and oil temperature gauge. I've been trying different oils. The latest oil I tried was Klotz 15W50 MX4. I do not recommend anyone use this oil! The oil pressure would drop to very low pressures as soon as the oil came up to temperature. Had I not noticed this and changed the oil I might have hurt the motor. I had more Klotz so I put the same type back in and the pressure was a little higher but still dropped way off at temperature. I went to walmart and bought mobil 1 20w50 vtwin oil. the oil pressure now was higher and didn't drop as much at temperature, even after hard riding. i'll never use klotz again. i've talked to other people who have had broken cranks due to klotz oil.
but if you don't care about the motor, then there might be an advantage to such an oil - faster reving and more power. i'd rather protect the motor.
(also, when i drained the klotz oil from the crankcase it rushed out like water!)

not sure if i have any pics.
the install is not hard, both gauges come with the fittings that are needed.
the water/oil temp gauge has the correct fitting that screws in where the magnetic plug is on the oil tank.
the oil pressure gauge has the correct fitting to allow teeing into the oil pressure switch. it comes with teflon hose.
