polaris magnum 500 stalling in reverse
#1
My 2000 Polaris Magnum 500 has been stalling while using reverse. I've been told it could be Speedometer. Also possibly the Rev Limiter? Could it be the cold weather? It is kept in the garage--no heat. We've had many 0 degrees days/nights. At first using the reverse override would get it to reverse but now that doesn't even do it.

The engine dies while shifting into reverse. When we disconnected the speedometer the reverse shifting would work. We are going to try a new speedometer. Thank you for your interest. Would you like to know the result? Do you have any further remarks or experiences with this problem?

Try unhooking the revers limiter.I am not sure on the newer ones but the older modles you could unplug the black wire and by pass the limiter.

It almost sounds like there is an electrical short to ground shifting into reverse when the orange reverse light/rev limiter is engaged.
