TRAXTER VS FOREMAN
#1
Iam thinking of getting another 4x4 and was wondering if it is worth trading my 400EX for the Traxter? I can get the Traxter for the same price and think that it is a good quad. If people who have or ride both quads please tell me how they compare. I am totally happy with my Foreman just would like to have my own personal shootout so let me know what you think before I decide. It may even Be the Rubicon that I buy instead. Anyhow I tryed a bomb today and was impressed. So let me Know about any probs to look out for please.

Some one on the HL forums said that he had a traxter xt that he traded on the honda foreman rubicon and liked it a hole lote more than the traxter because he said that it hade more power and monuverablity to get around, also to mention the traxter xt has differ. stuff that the rubicon dosn't provid like for instance [traxter xt] a cooler, bumbers, winch, and a differantail lock on the front. [HONDA FOREMAN RUBICON] a new trany with no belt, 4 valve, you can swith to automatic and manual ESP, a torque sencing differentail, im not sure if the traxter hase it but the honda has a digital LCD that tells you the time, hours, miles, and the postion you'r in/ mening ESP,D1 for profomance,D2 for torque power. Now im not a bombadier fan by no means but I do like to help out other people and before deciding drive both of them and look at the close and then you can realy decide what you want, one more thing/ the traxter xt cost 900.00 more that the honda rubicon.

The only problem with the Ruby is that it won't be hear til october and I think they have aready sold enough to make me have to wait til 2002 model. I will definitely wait and measure the worth of the 2 quads but I must say the Traxter had the lightest steering of any quad I had ridden. I mean 2x4 or 4x4 and I have ridden alot but I am a Honda man and will probably wait a while. I can only see better products coming from the Bomb though and maybe they will be the one's to make the sport 4x4 that I want. I also went looking at all other brands the same day and was shocked at the in my opinion poor quality of other brands. Personally I was very impressed with the quality of my Honda ofcourse. Also was very impressed with the quality of the Bomb. I really have to say Bombardier won't be long catching up in sales once they offer a few more quads. Anyway thats my opinion and I hope nobody is offended by it we all look for different things. Thanks for your reply lovinhonda and hope to receive more.

Well Im getting this new honda foreman rubicon next year so I can save up and pay it off right there in the showroom and see if the rubicon surpases all my opinions. If you do go with the traxter ask you'r honda dealer and see if they would trade it in because our dealer want take polaris and why im saying this is because if you do decide to trade the traxter in for the honda rubicon then you now they will take it.
P.S. one thing to keep in mind is honda has the best durability and realiabilty of any other atv out there so you no that you can trust a honda, well i'll talk to ya later.

yah, but even honda's break down, and remember, how reliable is the rubicon?? its only been out for a month or too.. the 300's and such were out for over 10 years, i'd hope they'd be reliable. i've seen honda's in the shop, just like any other. The rubicon has drum brakes, and is a 3x4. Whats up with that? I'm still waiting to see, whether the new honda is all that or not

My experiance goes with my reply: Honda atv's has proven it self to be the most reliable and the most durable atv out there, now about the 3wd thing/ the rubicon has a torque sencing differ. on it that means it sends the power to the wheel with the most traction. Now im not bashing any other company by no means but honda has proven it self for a very very long timer

You can't compare a Traxter with a 400EX, they are two different class units.
As for the Rubicon, it would appear they are too new for everyone to be an expert just yet.
In regard to the Traxter front wheel drive, it is a most welcome wonderful locking differential, it drives and feels like a 2 wheel drive but as one front wheel starts to slip, the shear pump unit locks both wheels together.
Have been using both the Foreman 400 and 450ES, neither of them are true 4X4, only 3 wheels spin when you need all 4, and in the grunt area, they both are capable of handling the Grizzly in a nose to nose pushing contest, but they are not in the same class as the Traxter for such activities.
Between my brother (63) and I (58), have or have had many units, the Honda Foreman 400 would be my choice for overall running around the woods, playing and general riding. But for more work related areas, the Traxter is the only choice when you want to actually do something HD in the utility area.
We also have ridden the DS 650, while it is alot more power than I want or can enjoy, it is fun to watch a rider that can use the power. We had it to a race track in Pa. and the guy that rode it, said it had more power than his 400EX after he had spent many thousands of bucks on it.
In the end it is your choise and you will have to live with it.
Good Luck

Have rode with a gentleman with a Traxter. I was very impressed with the machine. Steered better than my Ruby and did as well in the Mud. Not quite as much power though, due to weight. Rumors have it they used a Jeep design similiar to whats on the Grands. The only knock i really have on it is the step through design. That however was and is a personal choice. Other than that i liked it as much as the RUBY. Who knows, someday might get one. About the dependability, I won't say the Ruby is all that yet, just got it, but the Traxter seemed pretty solid and the guy has owned it for about 6 months and it has been abused. No problems to report on it either. Couple things to also note, in mud it seems to get highcentered faster, might be due to the weight being from the seat back. But the Engine and Radiator are ALOT safer than my Ruby's due to being mounted in the rear. NICE TOUCH!! I have a new grill on order due to a stick going up into it on the RUBICON. Can't go wrong with either, and GOOD LUCK

torque sensing my a** I'm assuming this is the same setup found on the honda rancher. well, i didn't see anything new. We were in teh snow, and the tire up in the air was spinning away. tho i stopped it with my foot, and we did get it out. We'll see the "reliabilty" soon. I mean, i think anyone can make the exact same quad for 10 years and have it pretty reliable. but what happens when you start adding new features, then honda is just like anyone else. we'll see....
