Rear Hub & Axle Bearing
#1
Hello,
I am new here. so bear with me.. I'm changing the left rear axle bearings in my 2000 King Quad. What holds the hub and axle from comming right out of the housing? And in the housing is there a stop ring welded inside on outer part to stop bearing ?
Thanks Rick

Hi Rick, I got your PM. First off, If you have any more KQ specific Questions you should post in the Suzuki forum and use King Quad in the tittle so the right people will see and answer you, Just a suggestion.
I assume you have got the wheel off and the Axle nut removed, Your looking at the thing and think "now what?" Simple.. Take a cutting torch and cut the axle in half.....OR.... Unbolt the A-Arm and remove.. BAM the whole shootin match comes out. I have not changed the bearings but I think they should slide out the "inside" side of the A-Arm. Looks to me like the bearing is held in place by the axle on the inside.. As you can tell.. The axle simply "floats" between the tranny output and the A-Arm. I had to "persuade" the A-Arm bolts out of the bushings by using an Impact wrench, tightening and loosening...Back and forth. Once the bolt spun freely it slid right out. My first time doing this was yesterday and it took me less than 1/2 hour..Thats with the aid of air tools. Good Luck and I would be happy to answer any Q's I can. JJ
P.S. Just jokin about the torch..

JJ, I have a arm out . but bearings were totaly gone just the races were left. i got both out. but i think there is a ring (maybe spacer)
still in housing. i was wondering if it is suppose to be there. i have the spacer from the hub. i think the bearings go in one from each end.
that is how i got them out.
Thanks,Rick(putting torch out)
