Default 55 watt headlight for a 45 watt system?

I've been looking for a new headlight for my old Quadsport and everything I've looked at is 55 watts. the Quadsport uses a 45 watt headlight. will this cause me magneto problems or will it just be not quite as bright as it could be? anyone else done this?

things are a little slow over in SuziLand so i thought i'd bother the Yamsters

Well its only 20 more watts total, I think it would work much better. I would look at the manual and specs and see what the magneto puts out just to see where your at.

same problem with blaster. I found 20 watt driving lites at walmart and installed them - they work fine. If you go over the max they will of course be dim, and it'll heat your mag more than normal, maybe smoke it after a while...It might be OK if your zook runs a battery, the blaster does not.

well, the Quadsport doesn't run a battery so i'm a little concerned about overloading the mag. the wiring harness is set up to run an auxilary light besides the head and taillight so the mag might produce enough to handle the extra 10 watts.

oh thats cool....the owners manual could tell you the output max...if you shop around youll find bulbs, or lamps...
i couldnt stand that bar mounted blaster headlight... it screamed "I'm a rental" and it went away. 2 small yellow foglights on the fenders do the trick now...i dont ride at nite anyway..pics in the gallery, see if thats what you want.
a good auto parts tech could find you bulbs. If he's not balding or grey, you need to talk to one who is, HAHA! truth.
i'm curious now - keep me posted on what you wanna do and what you decide. be happy to help if i can.

well the stock headlight is gonna go away. Clymer manual gives no specs on mag output.
i'll keep looking around. plan on running a micro-type light mounted on the nosepiece.
i'm hoping to have it rolling by the time the snow melts around here....
