hard tail air time
#1
i have a honda 200s and it sees more air time than a skate board at the x-games.. ok not quite but it does see the ocasional little jump. but how much can one take, with no suspension its all tire and a hard landing. my uncle had an old 185s that he bought new in high school and he rode it very hard untill a few years ago when the back axle and frame became two seperate projectiles going down the trail. i know that from the time it was new it had suffered some horendous wrecks, but always jsut drove away from them. i have inspected mine and everything is staight, clean and strong. if i keep the jumps reasonable should i worry about breaking welds, bending axles, or loosing tires? and no, i'm not an idiot trying stupid things, i'm jsut handeling what the trail throws infront of me. oh, on another note... whats the procedure for tightenign the chain and how much slack should it have???

You could air the 200s a little but there are a lot of variables when jumping an machine, as in flat landing vs. downhill landing (landing ramp).
On a flat landing you don't want to drop more than 3-4 feet. That would be a pretty harsh landing.
If you are landing on downhill or landing ramp, the momentum of the atc and angle of the jump soften the landing to the point that sometimes you could not even tell when you have touched down. This is how dirtbikes and atvs are able to pull off these huge 30 foot high jumps.
To tighten the chain undo the four bolts holding the axle, then turn the adjuster bolt on the bottom right axle bolt. The chain should have about 2 inches of slack in the middle.
