im am new to this forum. i am building a 686 out of my raptor, and was wondering if anyone knows anything about the sparks hi-rev cam. i have read a lot about the stage 2 hotcam and it sounds good but i am lookin for the most top end power i can get.i need to know if the sparks cam would be much of an inprovement on top over the stage 2, because the stage 2 has a lot better price. the reason that i am thinkin about the sparks cam is that there is a few ds 650s that i ride with and i need a susprise for them. any advice will be greatly appreciated. as of right now i have a 12-1 je piston, port and polish, 1mm bigger valves, and a sparks pipe. and i was also wondering if anybody knows if the sparks cam is a megacycle cam and what grind number it would be.

 

The Sparks Hi -Rev and the 685 Web cam will give you more top end pull over the stageII. If top end is what you are mostly wanting this would be the way to go; just make sure you can feed either of these cams enough fuel to get there best performance and not lean your motor. Sparks cams are megacycle cams(280x4 if I remember right). Slim

 

Welcom Rob, I have the stage II in my 12:1 686 and wish I would have went bigger for more top end. Go with the 685 or the sparks.IMHO.

 

im goin to be running 35 mm fcrs. were we race at is about 500 feet long, and was wondering if the web 685 and the sparks Hi-rev cam will be much different on bottom than the stage 2 cam, because i want a lot of top end im just wondering if with the web or the sparks, do you all think that it will still be fairly decent of the bottom. i still want to be able to go on a trail ride if i want to. does anybody has anyone here ever switched from stage 2 hot cam to a 685 or sparks hi rev wondering what differance there was

 

Craycraft is testing out cams of there own and they will have Hi rev cams available soon..

Good to hear - about Craycraft trying some custom grinds. My 686 is on its way
to me as I type this and I helped the cause by letting Bob keep my stock cam
for a few bucks for experimentation etc. Hope it helps !

 

I,ve heard the same as slim that the Sparks Hi-Rev is the same as the Megacycles 280x4 but I have strong doubts about that.

 

i like the Megacycle the best.

 

I run sparks mid-range cam in both raptors. They told me the hi-rev was for drag racing, no bottm end. I've ran against some 686 with hot cams stage 2 and had pretty good luck. I've heard with stage2 you have to shorten the middle intake guide.
