Default Doing the 150 mile service myself

Well, I'm wondering how hard it is to do a oil change and check the valve lash on a '03 Eiger? What books should I use? I just wanna save myself some money, I thought the dealer said something about $99...

Good for you, there is also a lot of satisfaction from doing it yourself. I found that the service manuals, that come from the dealer are very good, and complete. Buying one of them, will probably pay for itself. Oil change and valve checking isnt very difficult, and you can always ask here if ya run into something youre not sure of. Most of the time, the valves dont need adjusting, but it still needs to be checked.

I took my new 03 Eiger in for the 100 (150) mile oil and filter change. I thought they were going to do the valves but they didn't. I ask why not and the the teck said as easy as I ride they wouldn't need it. He also said it is not hard to check the valves but the problem is you have to take off all the plastic or most of it to get to the work area. It cost me about $100. for the oil and filter change and I thought that was excessive.

Its called ripping you off. Do that stuff yourself and leave the big problems to the dealer-like warranty work. A hundred bucks for a oil change-ha! You don't pay that for a large diesel truck.
