What is the best atv for mud running and jumping?

I'm looking to buy a 4 wheeler that has enough torque for pulling, some top end, has the capability to go in the mud and I can go on the track and jump if I want to?

For all that i suggest the 650 rincon, put some Holshot atr's on it and c-series rims and it will be able to do all of that. In my opion the rincon is the best for all those things, friend pulls ocean fishing boat whith his rincon, muds alot, goes pretty fast for a utlity, i have also seen and heard about people jumping their rincons, not the easiest to get in the air but hey its a utlity, very cushy landing with the IRS. Suzuki 500 Vincent, Kawasaki 700 Praire, Yamaha 450 Kodiak. The 650 Quest/Rincon is the only for Honda and Bomb that comes close it will fill every thing but the track and jumps. The Polaris scrambler would do everything but the pulling. The 700 Prairie is your best bet. Do your homework from here.

The IRS jump great. The reason IRS is not on sport/racing atvs is due to the weight. IRS is hands down better in the suspension department over the straight axle. This has been proven true time and time again in other racing formats where the difference in weight is not as apparent. The IRS is much better for jumping, as it is allot more forgiving. For example if you land with one side low you do not get pitched off the bike. The IRS is way smoother over all different types of terrain and causes less fatigue to the driver. I think the Ricon won the BAJA 1000 over all the sport quads when it was campained didn't it? Beating 250rs z400s ect ect ect.
So the real question is what do you mean by jumping? I have a SP500 and have jumped it thousands of times. It has been 6 feet off the ground many many many times. Is it made for this? Well no. Do I do this? Well Yes. Any of the bikes can take moderate jumping, but if you are wanting to go hit 75 foot table tops or jump triples on the track, stick to a sport bike because even though you can do it on a UTE, its just not a good idea.
I think that answers that question. some people look at these fourms for real information please don't guide them in the wrong direction.

How much work have you done to your IRS? I know lots of people that have jump and regretting it now IRS is not designed for the exrta stress on landing. If you feel like jumping an IRS that's fine, in the long term I don't think it's too wise. I had a Kingquad and a Polaris 500 that the IRS was the vain of my ATVing because my machine was not suited for driving style. I put around 12000km on an ATV a year on trails. Now today you see people driving sportmans like hell and I'm just shaking my head, some are having problems and paying for it willing knowing what they have done, some are not having problems and some other people are not even aware of the abuse they give their machine. I will fully agree the IRS is easier on the driver... I care for my machine I guess than me. An IRS can wheely with no problem but if I had an IRS I wouldn't be jumping it.

I have about 6500 miles on my 2000 sp500. It has run very well. I have had to do nothing to the IRS. I did put heavier springs on all the way around due to be being a big guy. The sportsman has been very reliable. Never broke down on the trail. I whip the crap out of the machine. If you go through my pics here you will have no dought that I whip on it. I have replace normal wear items, tires, brakes, filters. need to replace the radiator fan as it is starting to rattle. and the fan sensor. This atv is used almost daily around our farm hauling hay plowing snow, pulling wagons and so on. It always starts no matter how cold. It is also used in atv safety classes that I teach. We have great mud riding on the farm so in the spring, it is mudded just about daily. I have put just over two hundred miles on it in one day rding in the UP of Michigan. I did ride 165 miles in one day at Windrock. So you can whip them, just most people don't. The IRS handles whoops well also, but it does handle differently than a SRA. So you have to ride the IRS get some miles on so that you get adjusted to the way IRS handles. Once you do, SRA will disappear from you UTE vocabulary. I have owned many atvs dirt bikes 3wheelers, all have been fun. Just none rode so nice. by scanning my pics you will see that my friends ride all kinds of different machines. Each one is good machine. We do alot of 100 plus mile rides in a day. What I have found is that the riders on the IRS tend to go out again for a night ride, and the SRA guys tend to stay back at the cabin and goto bed.

Let's see what happens when you double that! I personelly feel that Polaris is much better now.... But you have a 2000? Every 2000 (I only know 2) here is braking CV joints with a lot less milage than you? any help? Our new local Polaris Dealership just burnt to the ground... I hope they re-opens... they were a good dealership from what I heard.

As you can see from the pics, I am running over size tires (26" 589s) and still have not had any problem. Did I mention that I do maintenance on my machines. I only use the best greese and fluids. Maybe thats why I haven't had any problems. Owell just bought a sp700 twin efi. So I will have to see how that hold up.
