For easy turning, stick with the stock sizes. Also, OEM tread design will probably turn easier than aftermarket tread patterns, but when I had a KQ I went with 489's to give it just a little more pull in mud without getting overly agressive on a tread design. Just remember that the KQ uses different size fronts and rears.
A far better (but more expensive) option is to get rid of the KQ and get a more gal friendly bike. I've found that my Eiger does much more than the KQ ever could and yet is much easier to drive and steer. Less weight, lighter steering, better brakes, more power, more fun. There's a lot to be said for having the right bike for the rider - especially with kids and smaller adults, be they male or female. My wife sort-of liked riding when I would borrow my brothers ATV and put her on my KQ. Now that she has an Ozark that fits her very well, she is much more comfortable and much more eager to ride.

My sis also has a ozark and loves it. Real easy atv to ride. Now for tires for the kingquad- Maybe ITP Trail wolf, or Titan AT 489 , or like the dude says-Dunlops. Another option is- tell her to start working out-then get some gators.

It's a lot easier to steer when you leave it in 2WD and use 4WD only for the rough stuff, when you need it. I can now say that since I put on the Mud Lites, my KQ in 2WD goes virtually where I went in 4WD with the stock Dunlops, and in 4WD it's a tank.
But unless you are going in really challanging places just have her use 2WD for the most part. Way more fun.
