Seems to me the easiest way would be to use one of those hose things that attaches to the oil bottle. I didn't have one and ended up having to unbolt the top of the shock to move it out of the way just so I could get the oil bottle in their to add oil. Seems like a PITA.

and learn to tip the bike where needed

 

Yep, buy a good long flexible funnel. I use clear fuel line cut to length on mine.

 

I ran into that same problem and had to borrow a flex funnel from somebody.I went and bought one now...
