Hi all.

Ihave just bought a brend new Polaris sportman 500 HO 2004.5.
I woud like to know wath mileage per gallon it should be doing at first
and then after is broken in, wathmileage should we expect it to do?

Welcome to the 'hood, PatLac! Congrats on the new quad. I have about a month or so on my new 400 Sportsman and am getting ready to make the purchase on either a 500 like yours or maybe even a 600.

I'm not sure if I can give you an accurate number but I can tell you what I have experienced so far. I have filled my tank with about 3 to 3.5 gallons, 3 times. I have 115 miles / 15.4 hours on the Ute as of tonight. With that, that gives me somewhere in the neighborhood of 10.9 mpg. I would assume that it will get better with break in. You might eat a bit more due to larger engine also. I don't know if there is a known average that we could expect from these things because driving condition vary so much between drivers.
