is it a good buy? How about the awd? does it performe well?how do u like ur sportsman 2004.5 500h.o?? Give me some info? Would u recomend it? I thinking about getting one. how do u like the awd? as it slips in and out by it self?? and one last thing does the awd slip into 4wd when selected 2wd and the wheels spin? I have heard problems of this?? I thought it was desiged to when selected 2wd it will NOT go ito awd mode and when selected awd it can go in and out?? is that a handy feature.

Stable, quick, smooth, comfortable, versatile and enjoyable ATV. I have no regrets.

The AWD slips in and out smoothly without a "jerk" and in general I have nothing bad to say.

Yes, it does. Or more correctly, it shows when AWD is activated but not if it's actually locked the front hubs or not.

The tach is digital. When the quad is in PNLH (anything but R), the reverse power override button switches modes between RPM and odometer, et al.

The 04.5 Sportsman's are just like the old reliable Sportsman's, just more upgrades. Fuel sender, new transmission, with park, AWD is now in the fron gearcase instead of the hubs, The ride and engine are still the same reliable sportsman.
As for the the front awd locking in, that may happen if you are out on the ice and severly spinning the rear tires. So 99% of the time you shouldn't be out there spinning on the ice anyways. The on deamand AWD offered by Polaris is a nice system, it's not the 3 1/2 wheel drive that is on most atv's.
