Hey branman, I decided on the vinson.I am getting the 5-speed. I will be picking it up this week. I spent alot of time "lurking" around these atv sites.and also read up on alot of "un-biased reviews". I have come to the conclusion that peaple tend to recomend what they own. (If they have good luck with it-why not?)I also think the atv mag reviews seem to go along with the amount of advertising they get from any particular model. The things I heard about the vinson was a problem with the maual shifter,or tranny? The problems seem to have been few and far beetween. Not enough to change my mind.Another thing I don't like is the plastic bumper. I will be getting a heavy aftermarket for mine. I don't like the factory bumper-it doesn't go high enough. Ron

Every manufacturer has its own quirks. Most of the people on these forums did as you are, they researched and found the machine that fits them, then made a well informed decision. They naturally are happy with what they have. You will defend those that you love.

As far as the mags go, you have to really read the words and see what they are saying. 1 mag may feel that a machine is unbeatable because of a certain feature and another one thinks thatt feature is its downfall. You may not feel that feature matters at all or it may be the most important. Their riding impressions seem to be pretty close to reality but their conclusions are somewhat cloudy. Read their REASONING closely, this will usually give you a better picture of the machine.

I have the auto and love it so far. I've only had it for 2 weeks though. It cruises really nice, and goes well on the snow covererd trails, and occasional log, but no mud or rocks yet...Have to thaw out up here first.
Try to get a winch, it's a heavy machine to try and lift if you get stuck.

Good luck!
Doug

Go sit on it! (sorry Fonz) when you do, try standing up and sitting down real fast like you would trail riding. See if the quad fits you. If they let you ride see how you feel afterwards. You need seat time before plucking down that kind of money.
