99 Xplorer not disengaging 4WD
#1
I have a 99 Xplorer 300 4X4. It runs great except for sometimes after I have it in 4WD and I want to go back to 2WD, the front right wheel doesn't always want to come out. It seems if I stop, put it in reverse and back up a foot and then back into high it kicks out most of the time though. Sometimes it will kick out right away after I hit the button.
Would this be caused by low hub fluid or something?

The first place to start would be hub fluid - when is the last time it was changed?? Could be caused by dirty fluid. Use the Polaris Hub fluid or a good synthetic ATF, and if they are real dirty, change the fluid several times after short rides ("stirs up" the "grunge") to clean it up.

I can use syntetic ATF also? I bet that would be cheaper than anything from Polaris
As to the question of when it was last changed... your guess is as good as mine. I bought the machine about 5 months ago and havent done it yet
Probably about time to change it
What brands of synth ATF would you recommend? Or should I just go with the Polaris hub fluid?
