Default 300ex with 400ex front suspension HELP

My friend at work owns a 300ex and purchased a complete front suspension from a 04 400 ex. He has everything installed however the shock and spring combo is not working for him it loads the suspension to full travel. This is the best info I could get from him. before he goes heating the springs! I wanted to get some info from anyone who may have done the same swap. I run a z400 so I dont have any info for him but I know everyone is very helpful and thought someone may have advise

thanks
dan

Did he relocate the upper mount?
There is a place In Az that makes a kit to do the swap. It is not a direct Bolt in Some cutting and welding is required.
Heating the springs will not help as the shocks are mounted too low on the frame.

Yes when I converted my old 330ex i got a kit from a place in AZ it comes with a mount and a jig. It was easy to do. it raised the shockmount 2-2.5 inches
Here is a bolt on kit on Ebay I do not know how far I would trust it. but it will give you an idea.
I would also add 2 inch spacers to the rear to even it out.
