Slide hammers sometimes work on wheel bearings. Soak them in some kind of penetrating oil, use a large hammer, and slowly heat.

well i had a probelem with pulling the bearings out of my swing arm to but i came up with a simple fix. go to your hardware store and buy like a cast pulley or somthing the size that fits perfect into the case with a whole in it. like at least a half inch hole. then get a big bolt and put it threw the center and pound away. it hits it out evenly.

Where are these bearings located???? I had some major problems getting out old bearings. I tried heat, penetrant fluid , Beating it with a mallet, everything....... One thing that did work for me on a few items was to take a socket, like you stated, But put it in a vise and press it out by tightening the vise. I had to use a extension bar on the vise to get leverage but it worked with most items. I had a few that just wouldnt budge though so the only way i could get them out was to cut them out with a dremmel cut off tool(last resort!) That worked for me also.
Once you get them out ,do yourself a favor and replace them every couple years or you'll run into the same problem again further on down the road..
Hope this helps.

I would suggest a bigger hammer. my 87 is a bear to make any of the bearings move, so I went out and bought a 5lb sledge with a 1foot handle......... havent found a bearing that I cant get out yet.

ca

Heres what I just did on my swingarm. I took out all the old needle bearings and then took my dremel to the old bearing race/carrier. I then used a grinding tip and ground out a small area just enough so that with some pentrating lube and a screwdriver they tapped out rather easily. This works a whole lot easier than the other fixes. I've owned 3 Quadracers and do all my own maintenance and I will tell you that I will be adding a dremel/ multi tool to my tool kit. All the other ways the guys listed above will work but if everything is old and been in there a while its going to test your patience and sanity doing it with the old hammer and heat tricks. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!
