Nut wont come off to change oil what should i do?
#1
I just bought my bike so i wanted to change all the fluids but when i was goin to take the nut off on the bottom of the casing i wont come off. I sprayed it with WD-40 and still wont come off, anyone have any suggestions.

Tip it up on its grab bar, get yer ratchet on it and find a piece of pipe. insert the ratchet handle into the pipe and proceed to turn counter clockwise. Only loosen it enough to the point where you can get the nut out with your fingers. Dont take it all the way out or you will have a big @$$ mess on your hands.

I doubt WD-40 will travel up to break the threads free.... Are you turning it the right way? Sounds silly, but being up side down might be kinda confusing....If its stripped, get a long pipe wrench with some leverage.....that'll loosen it up..

its not stripped the bolt is fine but i mean this thing is on there so tight i cant every move it a hair but i dont want to snap it im thinking of just pumping the oil out out. I dont wanna take any chances.

First of all, be sure you are attacking the proper bolt. Then you might want to try standing the quad up on it’s tail so you have easy access to the underside, that way you can be sure and get a good grip on that nut (just crack it loose then you can set the quad back down and take it out the rest of the way from underneath).
If you are by yourself or it’s otherwise too hard for you to stand the quad up, angle a couple of planks up against the side of a building (or the front end loader of a tractor if you have one) then ride the quad up, grab the back brake, turn off the gas, turn off the key, step off the back and pull the quad backwards to finish standing it up the rest of the way. Most quads will stand on their tails unassisted...

Then pound on the wrench with a hammer.....jolting the plug won't break it as easy as a long pipe will shear the head off....

You have a better chance of rounding off the head of the bolt with a less than perfect wrench / socket fit than stripping / breaking the bolt. I seriously doubt that you could break a drain plug bolt as those are generally pretty hefty. Be sure you are using a ratchet / socket and not a wrench (better fit, more leverage). If you still can't budge it, invest in an electric impact wrench, they are a very handy gadget to have. It will surely loosen it.
It's better to get the plug loose and drain the oil rather than trying to pump it out, especially with a new machine as you are more apt to have metal bits and pieces collecting at the bottom of the crankcase that will come out with the oil as it's draining...

Remember...righty tighty, lefty loosey. Make sure youre going the right direction.
Use a 6 point socket, then you wont have to worry about rounding the head.
Make sure youre on the right bolt, it really shouldnt be that tight.
