im in the process of putting 88 plastic on my 86. pretty much identical except color and that the underside (the 'airdam') of the front nose peice is different on these years.

no mods, I like the later style nose plastic.

I have 88 plastic, including the nose piece, on my 86 R. No modifications were needed.
