I would think as popular as the HRC kit has been it will show up soon in a mag dyno. I would think it would add another 2 or 3 hp and another 1000 useable rpms. Changing the carb for a FCR should add another hp or 2.
I would bypass the hrc kit and find some aftermarket cam from a dirtbike shop. You will have to probably wait a little bit on a piston. I do not know if anyone has done a run yet. Hopefully sparks, lrd, ESR will have a few before to long.

Honda is selling them for $300. The dealership that I'm working with says they'll give me a 10% discount for the first year after a purchase...But I'm sure their prices compensate for it.
As for the aftermarket cam, I probably will wait and see what becomes available. I kinda like the HRC kit though, because it just modifies the airbox, rather than removing the lid altogether. It puts a vent in the lid that still directs any debris/water away from the filter. Also, it opens up the exhaust a bit, without costing me a small fortune to upgrade the whole exhaust. Wheter that's worth half the price of the kit...probably not. Eventually, I'm sure I'll end up getting a full exhaust for it, but right now, this is what I can afford.
I don't think I'm going to worry about a piston. I'm not concerned with being the fastest and baddest 450R out there, I just want more usable power. From what I've heard, between dropping a tooth in the front, and the HRC kit, the R is much more ridable in a variety of conditions.

Rodsquad- I can not picture you kick starting anything in the year 2004. LOL I am thinking of a day trip to your house to just see the 450r in person. You going to wear the pink riding pants when on the 450r???
