Default Service for '04 Honda Recon

I just purchased the Recon a few weeks ago and was wondering if I really need to take it in to the dealer after the initial 20 hours and pay them $120 to make sure everything is up to par or if I can get by with a simple oil change/air filter check???

You could do the maintenance yourself. They just want to make a little more money off of you. They all say that you should come back to have the valves checked. You can purchase a manual and do it or just don't have it done. If you change the oil yourself, keep in mind that there is not an oil filter to change with each oil change.

Good luck with your Recon.

Recon maintenance is pretty simple. Change the oil, spark plug, adjust the valves, and change the oil in the rear diff. If you have waited 20 hrs to change the oil, do it quick! I change my oil after 2 hrs on a new engine.
