Default Decompression Pin in Raptor Motor ----

To leave or to take out??? Has anyone taken out the pin and how well does the motor still turn over with the starter? I know on the 727's that I have seen they are taken out and have to be pull started.

I'd leave it in personaly. If you take it out, you'll probably want to weld up the hole and leave the lever in place to keep up the oil pressure.

Well just in case the thing falls out and ruins the head. I dont know how it would happen but I heard of two that have done it.

I just wanted to know what the difference would be and now that you have had a problem turning over the motor then I will just keep it in.

Mine started fine, pull starting. The pin can come out if it breaks into two pieces. How and why it broke in half is beyond me. Probably my bad luck. I put it in my hotcam exactly the way it was supposed to be. I found the old pin and well it was pretty messed up, so it was hard to tell what happened. But if your going to use a starter I would use a decomp pin. IMO

I will tell you why it messed up. Hot Cams unacceptable decompression pin hole tolerences. I have owned 2 Hot Cams and had too modify BOTH decompression pin holes for proper operation of the decompression mechanism. Your pin stuck in the out position and got lunched.

That modification should have been in the instructions if you ask me.
