I’m running 26x10x12 GBC Dirt Devils on the front and 26x12x12 on the rear and am very happy with them (just be sure you have 26” tires on the rear too, not just on the front because when you change tire diameters on a 4x4 you must change all 4 at the same time). My 26” tires are mounted on ITP C-Series wheels which are offset from stock wheels giving the quad a wider stance and additional stability…

Going with 6 ply aftermarket tires will not ride as smooth as the stock 2 ply tires because those flimsy 2 ply tires help to absorb some of the shock that you may actually “feel” through a stiffer tire. However they will be more durable and resistant to punctures when compared to the 2 ply tire (many 26” tires are 6 ply or 6 ply rated I believe).
Beyond that, my steering with my 26x10x12 front tires is still easy, especially in 2WD. If anything a stiffer tire would probably turn easier than a soft tire that has more “give” to it. Wider tires will give you a little more flotation in the mud / soft ground and will give you a little more tread to work with. You will also have less mud protection with your stock fenders (you may want to add over fenders to compensate for extra tire width).
Another factor you may have to consider, especially with a 2003 model (known to have CV joint breakage issues), you will put a little more stress on the drive train and the CV joints.
I’ve never tried mounting 26” tires on stock rims, I don’t know if you will have clearance issues with those or not (the only area you may have to worry about would be the clearance on the inner side of the tire (towards the quad), I know the offset C-Series rims have no trouble). Perhaps someone that has actual experience with 26” tires on stock Grizzly rims (26x10 front & 26x12 rears can help out here)…

itp makes a 26x9x12 in the mudlite I just ordered a set for the front and a set of 26x10x12 for the rear, so they are 1" all a round bigger than the stock grizz tires. I will let you know how they look , they should be in next week.

10" wont make that big of a difference on that narrow stock rim. Keeps it tall in profile and narrows it up more than if it was on a wider aftermarket rim. A 10" on your front stock rim will look a lot different than the same tire on your back rim. Shouldn't make steering too tough. I run the 9.75 on my fronts and they steer pretty good.

I run 10's and 12's on my 04 works great. back rubber rubs a bit when wide open runs blow tires up to max. circumference. check pics to see what they look like. love my mudlites. 2200km om them and very little wear.
